Shared Interest Groups

Our interests bring us us together.
Shared Interest Groups (aka “SIGs”) are groups organized around common interests and are a core offering of Rhinebeck at Home. Groups gather to play games, work on puzzles, go on walks and hikes, spend afternoons at beautiful gardens, attend Met Live opera broadcasts, and more. You name it—it can happen.

Arts & Culture | For members who enjoy creative and cultural life. Groups center on visual art, film, music, theater, opera, or hands-on creative pursuits, with outings, shared experiences, and conversation as a focus.

Games & Puzzles | Social, low-pressure gatherings built around friendly play. These groups might include board games, card games, bocce, or puzzle-based activities, often as much about connection as competition.

Nature, Outdoors & Exploration | For those who like to be active and curious outdoors. Groups may involve walking, hiking, cycling, gardening, birding, or exploring the natural and cultural landscape of the Hudson Valley.

Reading, Learning & Conversation | Groups for members who enjoy ideas and dialogue. These include book discussions, salon-style conversations, and  informal learning groups shaped by shared curiosity and interests.

Civic Engagement & Community Action | For members interested in staying informed on world, national, and local issues and personal and collective action. Groups focus on social concerns, environmental sustainability, or other topics related to community well-being and civic life.

Members may sign up for groups based on their interests and receive notices and invitations to upcoming events. Typically, one or two members convene a group, and once the group is formed, members decide together on direction, activities, and scheduling.
